Corporate Social Investment
Mercy Centre, in Berea Johannesburg is a half way home for abused women and children. Run by the Catholic Church under Sisters of Mercy, the centre provides accommodation as well as skills training in order to empower women to support themselves when they leave the centre. Louella Frances supports the sewing unit by giving our off cut fabrics which the women use for their projects. We also donate our corporate wear samples and excess from production runs. These items are appreciated by the ladies as they go out to look for work or as they start new employment. We also visit the ladies from time to time to see what great things they are up to and to share ideas. The coordinator for this sewing unit, Angie Tjokosela, has also become a great friend. We have some good laughs over their delicious, ever flowing pot of rooibos tea! Meet Your Maker is a movement that aims to bring to the fore greater consciousness about the importance and impact of women in our society. Their mission is to get people thinking more meaningfully about how to acknowledge and celebrate women in various spaces. Louella Frances we assist the movement by providing various strands of support such as , including access to spaces professional expertise and machinery for assisting with the production of their merchandise.
